  Ivyhood Event

A Resource for Parents on the Westside...Ivyhood

I am writing to you to let you know of our online group, Ivyhood, and in hopes that you can let your members know about us via your newsletter and website.

About 2 years ago, when I just had given birth to my daughter, I participated in an e-mail group of parents about family events going on on the westside. Over the years, the parents group eventually grew to 600 families and it has developed into so much more. It is used to provide information on family events on the westside, recommendations of services (i.e., pediatricians, schools, daycares, nannies, etc.), a place to post questions to help parents.

As a parent, this type of resource and information is invaluable and easy to attain (versus making calls around town to only get a few options and a little information). As a new parent and a foreigner (N.J. girl)... to LA, I found this network to be a great resource but thought "wouldn't it be wonderful to create a similar group that would support, provide and tap into the wealth of information and experience of Ivy League parents established or new to the LA area." I hope that it not only serves as a great resource but will also eventually lead to many ILASC affiliated family events.

The NY Times did an article on parents online groups recently and how it adds a new modern dimension to raising children in todays environments.
