International Zinck's Night
Join us for a fun evening as we celebrate this special Cornell tradition! Event Date: Thursday, October 21st, 2010 at 7:00pm
Did you know that each October the entire Cornell Community, both students and alumni of ALL ages, observe an annual Spirit of Zinck's Night in over 90 cities around the world? We may be thousands of miles from Cornell, but on Thursday, October 21st, you can feel just steps away from the hill by attending this year's Zinck's event!
So what's the story behind this annual celebration? Theodore Zinck was a saloonkeeper in Ithaca and his pub, the Hotel Brunswick, was a popular gathering place for Cornellians in the 1890s. After his death in 1903, several bars using his name continued to provide a haven for students. When the last "Zinck's" closed in the mid-60s, celebrating the spirit of Zinck's became a favorite Thursday night Collegetown tradition of undergraduates. It wasn't long afterward that Cornellians continued the tradition in their hometowns.
So remember your days at Cornell and join us on October 21st as we raise our glasses and toast our alma mater!
