THIS MONTH…

Can “High Frequency” Energy Empower Sustainability?

This month the CTBN forum explores leading edge technologies that may inspire and impact alumni business, engineering, and societal efforts across many industries.

Recently, Cornell College of Engineering researchers received federal grants from the DOE to advance novel clean energy research. We’ll get a preview into three such initiatives.  The first project, featured in the Cornell Chronicle, is for wirelessly charging electric vehicles, which has the potential to drastically reduce the need for expensive and bulky on-board batteries, enable unlimited range, and accelerate EV market penetration. A second project is developing more efficient uninterruptible power supplies using Gallium Nitride chips to keep data centers running and reduce power consumption. The last project offers a solar cookstove that generates and stores electricity using waste heat.

The Cornell High Frequency Power Electronics Research Group will be joining us in the CTBN Forum to preview their breakthrough technologies.  Principal Investigator and Associate Professor Khurram Afridi, PhD, Electrical and Computer Engineering will lead a panel discussion with Cornell Doctoral Students, Maida Farooq (PhD ’24), Firehiwot Warsa Gurara (BS ’19, PhD ’24), and Sounak Maji (PhD ’24).

Join the discussion, Wednesday, November 16th at 11:30am/PDT. Preregistration required here. Register HERE
