"Tools, Techniques and Implications: how advances in bio-optics restructure society and the arts." This lecture will be a technical discussion of bio-technology and art history, inspired by the Gil Cuatrecasas art collection at a new gallery in Chinatown, DTLA, called "Gil's Sanctuary."

Nanotechnology, LCD screens, and electro-microscopy are the new artistic space and atomic canvas: scientist and bio-tech consultant Hemanth Ramaprakash discusses how real-world applications of bio-optics are applied to the visual arts through new and unforeseeable social modalities.

Join us for an art historical and science-based slideshow presentation and exclusive, inter-ivy plus talk. Exhibition Director Janna Avner, Yale '12 (daughter of DCLA president emeritus Janine Avner '80) and Curator Peter Hastings Falk, Brown '73, inaugurate their lecture series; followed by Q & A.

Drinks and light food will be served.
