CORNELL UNIVERSITY GLEE CLUB CONCERT IN DTLA
The Cornell University Glee Club will be performing in Los Angeles as part of its 2019 Sesquicentennial Tour -- a bi-coastal tour featuring performances in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City, led by Cornell’s director of choral activities, Robert Isaacs.
Praised by The Washington Post for its “virtuosic choral sounds,” the Glee Club's concert program for this anniversary year will feature many of their favorites over the past 150 years of spirited music-making, including Franz Biebl's immortal Ave Maria. Highlights will include the Washington premiere of a new commission by Julia Adolphe, Falling Water, and a nostalgic nod to the group's earliest days as the Cornell University Glee, Banjo, and Mandolin Club. Captivating world music, lyrical folksongs, renaissance motets, and spirituals will round out the program, which will conclude with beloved Cornell Songs including the Evening Song and Alma Mater. The event will be followed by a complimentary reception for Glee Club members and Cornell alumni at Vespaio, across the street.
