The Village Studios - Recording Studio Tour & Optional Lunch
Location: The Village Studios (1616 Butler Ave, Los Angeles)
If you are inspired by Rock, Pop and Film Music history or want to go behind the scenes of a studio for recording music, films or even a podcast, The Village Studios is a tour not to be missed... in every decade since its founding, The Village has produced many of the world's favorite songs of all time.
As the look and sound of music changes, so does The Village. From legends like Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, B.B. King, and Bob Dylan to current artists like Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Kesha, John Mayer, and Cage the Elephant, you would be hard-pressed to find an artist who hasn’t recorded at this location.
In addition to creating chart-topping albums, The Village is well known for its impressive list of movie soundtracks from The Bodyguard and Shawshank Redemption to A Star Is Born (2018) and Mulan (upcoming live action as well as animated versions).
Cornellians, Phil Sandhaus (David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Columbia, and Capitol Records) and music publisher Michael Eames (PEN Music Group – Lou Gramm of Foreigner; Dirty Dancing songs; Gina Schock of The Go-Gos and many others) have spent their entire careers in this industry and will speak to our group after our tour.
The tour begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. followed by a discussion with Cornell alumni Phil Sandhaus and Michael Eames. At 11:30, we will gather at a local restaurant for an optional informal lunch at En Sushi.
